No amount of education, exploration, philosophical thought, or self-examination has diminished the impact of religions or the belief in god. I’m not going to put an end to it, and you aren’t either, if thousands of years of mankinds development hasn’t done it by now. Time might someday, but that day is not today, or tomorrow, or even on the horizon, and I think it is a foolish waste of time for anyone to try. Second, the world we live today has many extremes pushing and pulling at us from all angles – in religion, Islam is illustrating the extreme danger of fundamentalism, in more frightening and dangerous ways than anyone ever predicted Christian fundamentalism would do in the 70’s; how silly we all look now fearing Falwell and Swaggart and the rest because they threatened the advertisers of our favorite TV shows! While we feared the roaring pussycats, who always show their true petty nature, we allowed a lion to grow, and now, we see the world suffering for it. Your hatred of Conservatism not being the issue here, you continue to harp on the Christian religion, making the same mistake the Christians made with abortion. While they continue to make it a primary issue in politics, it’s done as far as I am concerned. While I personally oppose abortion, as I have stated, there are no alternatives, it has to stand for now. The Christians, and the Conservative Right, has failed to promote alternatives, besides abstinence and fear. They should have been pushing for laws that would make men accountable, birth control, and for science to find those alternatives in medicine that will make abortion obsolete. They’ve wasted decades, and gotten nowhere. You make the same mistake here. And that is one of the reasons that I am conservative. I can work within conservatism to ensure individual freedoms, protect human life, and continue the ideals represented by those that established this great nation. The alternatives are controlling governments with centralized power dominating every aspect of your life. If you haven’t seen how well that’s worked throughout history so far, then I suppose you blame the U.S., Conservatism and Capitalism for that, too? As for stating concepts that don’t agree with Conservative ideals, well, I’ve done that some here, and only the liberals have attacked me. Interesting, don’t you think?
