Group: Earth Day

A poem to commemorate Earth Day and our glorious leader in Phoenix, Arizona, Mayor Phil Gordon, title "Saturday Night Dark". One Saturday in late March The word came from on high That Phoenix would go dark For one hour that night "To save the planet" Said the Mayor, Phil Gordon his name "I must show you that I care And you all must do the same!" One hour in the dark Would do the planet good For humans are a virus Upon Natures motherhood But lo in the darkness From the center of downtown Shone brightly in the gloom A beacon of great renown In objection to the Mayors decree At Chase Field the lights did burn bright Electricity was in the air For the DBacks played that night The Mayors anger grew into a rage "I want those lights off!" he did say He stomped and cried and yelled "My way! My way! My WAY!! We all laughed at the little man Who thought he could tell us what to do We kept our lights on and we played our game To the mayor, we said "FUCK YOU!!
